Started having a sore throat and discovered a lump on my lower right as my fingers ran down my neck. I'm screwed, I guess. Two of the symptoms for nose cancer is lump(s) around the neck and prolonged sore throat.
Asked my mum about it (because she also has a lump but has been diagnosed as non-cancerous) and she said mine looks like thyroid and if confirmed, it could mean long-term medication and one of the side effects is weight gain.
Well, honestly, in my knowledge/ ignorance, thyroid sounds less deadly than cancer.
I decided to seek a second opinion from Dr Hing.
The wait at the clinic was a frustrating one, literally and figuratively with many doubts and anxiety.
Dr Hing said my sinusitis is getting bad and my throat's inflamed. As for the lump on my neck, he suspected under-active thyroid (I have no recollection of what the medical term is).
Dr Hing asked about my family history of cancers and suggested visiting the ENT should I want to put my mind at ease.
Medical terms can be rather frustrating; they sound so foreign like jargons and so damn serious/ deadly. Can't they have simpler names which can be remembered and pronounced easily or be differentiated just the by 'mild' and 'severe'.
It is so easy to tell everyone to pay the doctor or specialist a visit to get their healths checked and treatment should be done early in case anything is amiss when they are afraid they would discover a health problem.
Right now, my heart and legs seem too heavy to make a trip to get a thorough health check. I think before any diagnosis can be made, I would probably start falling into depression.
