"Crude,Rude,Stupid"

Benjamin Koh called himself a "stupid idiot" for making racist comments on his blog.
Perhaps a little too late.he finally understood the stupidity,gravity and consequences of his bigotry.
Yesterday he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a month's jail on each of two charges for making seditious and inflammatory remarks about Muslims on the internet.
The entries were sparked by a letter which was published in the Straits Times forum page questioning the transportation of uncaged pets in taxis,given that dogs may drool on seats and dirty them with their paws.A Muslim lady was concerned because many Muslims in Sngapore are forbidden by their faith to come n contact with a dog's saliva.
Another charge was taken into consideration. Koh's sentences are to run concurrently.
After his entries, outraged netizens emailed their friends with links to his blog, or posted the link on their own blogs or Internet forums.
Koh received more than 200 comments from angry netizens on his entries,he even received threatening comments and emails such as "I know where you live.You'll be sorry.Why not you come out one-on-one?You want to die ah?You'll burn in hell."
He posted an apology on his blog and took down the offending entries after realising that he had stirred the hornet's nest.Upon reading his friends' comments,he realised that he was too harsh and he should not behave this way.It was unecoming and it was not rght.
Didn't he realise this earlier that his actions were irresponsible,to say the least?

Racist blogger No. 2, Nicholas Lim
Nicolas Lim, 25, was also dealt with in court yesterday.He pleaded guilty and was given a "nominal" jail term of one day and fined $5,000,the maximum fine -- on one charge of making racist remarks about Muslims on the Internet.However, another charge was taken into consideration.
Lim wrote an apology to the court last month which was read out yesterday:
"While it was done without any true malice or intended spite,it was nonetheless unbecoming conduct of a person my age and nationality,and for this I am deeply ashamed."

Racist blogger No. 3, Gan Huai Shi
A third blogger,17,a private student, was charged yesterday morning for making racist comments against Malays as well.
He faces up to 3 years for each of the seven charges of promoting ill-will in Singapore under the Sedition Act.

The judge stressed that young Singaporeans must realised that callous and reckless remarks on racial or religious sujects have the potential to cause social disorder,in whatever medium or forum they are expressed.
He added:"Bloggers who still have similar offending remarks are well advised to remove them IMMEDIATELY."
