With greater power comes more responsibilities.
I have to admit that i was excited about my new role and there was a sense of satisfaction & great relief that my efforts & perseverance have finally paid off.
However, there is a strong tendency to become more work-oriented than anything else when your career reaches to a certain height. You strive to maintain certain standards at your job.
Ever since i took on my new role, i have become more vocal as compared to where i was in my previous role. Good and Bad.
Good: I threw in my ideas and became more daring in expressing my views (which i have always lacked in the past and it has always been brought up during my appraisal).
Bad: I could not suppress my frustrations and grievances & had to let it out, verbally and virtually.
Reaching a new height also increases the pressure on oneself in all aspects, not just within your job scope, how well you lead, perform/ teach or fulfill your duties, but also your personality and interpersonal skills. Ever wondered how others see you as a leader?
How you see yourself and how others see you may be quite different. It is hard to be objective about oneself. Afterall, one is being oneself and therefore there is no distance from which to view.
The amount of paperwork and leadership duties i have to fufill is becoming overpowering that i am questioning myself about my capabilities and passion for my job. Am i here to teach or am i here to fufill paper requirements everyday? The stress level & the paperwork is piling up all the time.
The children is the reason for my current sanity.
