Why Me
Evangelist Ladia T. Jones
How many times have we asked the question, "why me?"
We have often asked in times of great despair, when we were at our lowest moments.
I have asked this same question as a child growing up.
I watched my healthy friends and family, childhood peers, break a leg or an arm, wear a cast for six weeks and they were ready to play again.
I on the other hand, have a degenerative joint disease which robbed me of even the most simple pleasures of life.
How I longed for a simple broken leg, and often asked the simple question "why me."
Bad things happen to good people.
We wonder sometimes. "Why were I the victim of a crime?" or "Why do I have a physically, or mentally disabled child?" Or "Why am I physically disabled?" Or "Why has my life turned out this way?"
It is okay to ask those questions, and God has the answer.
I believe the songs that tell us that He'll never put more on you than you can bear.
I believe the writer when he said "He knows how much you can bear".
God knows and understands that not every *teacher can deal with a child with mental or physical limitations, so he finds the best *teacher for that child.
He has to find *teachers that are loving and caring and who are going to love the child in spite of the physical or mental challenges. So he picked you.
Not everyone can deal themselves with physical or mental challenges, but God knows who can.
*Words have been changed.
God does not give us challenges that will break our spirit.
He knows how much you can take and the kind of challenge you will be able to face.
Secondly, God wants us to depend upon him.
He gives us financial, emotional, physical, and sometimes spiritual challenges so that we can always remember who our source is.
The psalmist wrote "All of our help comes from the Lord." This is the way God wants it.
He doesn't want us to lean on our own strength.
In order to learn that we must be challenged.
If you have ever needed a bill paid and had no way to pay it, and all of a sudden God provided a way, you learn how to depend on Him.
God didn't challenge you financially to break you or to leave you in poverty, but it teaches you how to trust Him in your finances, in your relationships, with your health.
Be encouraged, God trusts you enough to challenge you.
He believes in you enough to give you a test but with every test he makes a way for you to escape.
So face your latest challenge with the understanding that "All things work together for the good to them that love God" (Romans 8:28).
And until next time, live in excellence. -Evangelist Ladia T. Jones-
